Blue SDK

Blue SDK provides Bluetooth® for cars
Bluetooth® automotive technology has to meet the highest standards of reliability and interoperability in today’s market. OpenSynergy’s Blue SDK (software development kit) meets these standards for automotive customers as well as customers in other industries.  The kit is for use with embedded systems with restricted memory and MIPs and delivers both efficiency and reliability when adding Bluetooth® radio communication to any embedded device.

OpenSynergy Bluetooth® experts are members of the Bluetooth® SIG Core Specification and Automotive Working Groups.  This team is continuously advancing the features of Blue SDK to remain compliant with the latest Bluetooth® specification version.

Blue SDK is one of the most successful Bluetooth® stack products in the market
Over one billion devices (mobile phones, automotive, industrial, measurement, medical and other) have shipped with Blue SDK, supporting a full range of profiles that rely on this short-range wireless communications medium.  Here are some of the reasons why:

  • Ease of use
  • Reduces development costs and testing cycles
  • Enables fast and easy integration into any operating system
  • Reduces engineering risk and total project cost
  • Fully customizable
  • Low cost of ongoing ownership
  • Shortens time-to-market

Blue SDK supports Bluetooth® Classic and Bluetooth® Low Energy
Classic and Low Energy devices use different hardware and software stacks.  Bluetooth® Low Energy derived from Bluetooth® Classic.  However, Bluetooth® Classic devices can´t communicate with Bluetooth® Low Energy and vice versa.  As for some applications, the power consumption of Bluetooth® Classic is still too high.  The Bluetooth® SIG developed a standard lower power consumption to overcome this obstacle.

The choice for one of the standards depends on criteria such as:

  • Required features for the application
  • Compatibility with other mobile devices
  • Data transfer speed needed
  • Battery operation vs. devices with recharge capabilities

Bluetooth® Low Energy Audio Support

Blue SDK supports a full suite of Bluetooth Low Energy (LE) Audio profiles.  LE Audio enables new network topologies and use cases:

  • Multi-Stream Audio
    • Multiple, Independent, Synchronized Audio Streams Between a Source Device and One or More Receiving Devices
  • Broadcast Audio (also referred to as Auracast®)
    • A Source Device Broadcasts One or More Audio Streams to an Unlimited Number of Receiving Devices
  • Improved Audio Quality and Reduced Latency
    • According to a study by the Bluetooth® SIG, the new LC3 codec enables better audio quality at half the bit rate when compared to legacy SBC codec used in Classic Bluetooth® Audio.

A list of the LE Audio Profiles is available below under the “Details” tab.

Blue SDK supports LDAC™ audio codec

Sony’s LDAC™ Codec enables the transmissions of unprecedented sound quality over Bluetooth® . It includes High-Resolution (Hi-Res) Audio flexible to bit rates up to 990kbps. The LDAC™ codec together with Blue SDK can be used with any Bluetooth® HCI Radio.
