In this talk, presented at embedded world 2026 in collaboration with the Bluetooth SIG, our colleague Sindhu Sondur explores how Bluetooth® Channel Sounding, fully supported by OpenSynergy Blue SDK, elevates Bluetooth LE into a secure, high‑precision platform for real‑time localization. She covers the core distance‑measurement techniques —Phase‑Based Ranging and Round‑Trip Timing— and explains how controller design, HCI integration, and antenna configuration work together to deliver accurate ranging, presence detection, and direction finding.

Using an automotive keyless access system as a practical example, the session dives into the security properties, system interfaces, and architectural best practices needed to enable trusted Bluetooth LE localization. The insights extend beyond automotive, offering guidance applicable to industrial environments and smart access solutions where security, reliability, and precision are critical.
